We were impressed with Layla’s ability to bring her kookaburra to life. She has captured the form of the bird, the details of the feathers and the shine in the eye wonderfully. The contrast in textures between the bird and the rail is well done. While being realistic, there is a lovely looseness to the colour work. Well done.

Judges comments:
Ann’s beautiful drawing of her guide dog shows great technique and detail in every hair! We were also highly impressed by the paper Ann created this artwork on. It has braille writing all over it and adds that extra element of thought and creativity. A well thought out beautiful work of art Ann, we wish you all the best in your art journey!

olivia – year 9
'realistic eye'
Judges comments:
We were impressed by Olivia’s artwork of the eye. The shift of focus in the eye from the sharpness of the pupil and the lashes to the soft focus of the background is done beautifully. Olivia has done an excellent job of capturing the reflections of light in the image enhancing the overall effect that she has created. Fantastic!

The composition of Ryan’s jungle allows the eye to be drawn to the incredible detail shown in each species of plant. Beautiful inking transforms into a dense ecosystem which reminds a tropical Australian jungle. We loved your attention to detail and love for nature, well done Ryan!
