Who can enter?
All Secondary school students in Australia (Year 7 - Year 12) are invited to enter.
Is there an entry fee?
Of course not! We love anything creative, so it is free to enter.
When can I submit my entry?
The STAEDTLER Artists of the Year Competition is open for entries from Tuesday 14th May – Thursday 20th June (11.59pm AEST) 2024. To be in the running to win, please make sure you submit your entry on or before 20th June, 11:59pm AEST.
What information do I have to share to enter?
To enter the competition, we will require the following details –
- Email Address (so that we can alert the winner!)
- First Name / Last Name
- School Name
- Year Group (Year 7 - 12)
- Artwork name
What are the entry categories?
Depending on your year group your entry will fall into one of the below categories:
Senior Artist of the Year (Year 10 - 12)
Junior Artist of the Year (Year 7 - 9)
People’s Choice (Year 10 - 12)
People’s Choice (Year 7 - 9)
What should my entry look like?
ANYTHING! That’s the magic of this competition. Draw, scribble, sketch, paint – all we ask is that you create in a traditional way and it is not a direct replica from an existing artwork.
Does my work have to be produced especially for the competition or can I use something I have done recently?
Your artwork should have been done within the past 12 months and not have been entered into the competition in any of the previous years.
Does my creation have to be completed using STAEDTLER product?
STAEDTLER products are versatile, so they can be used for almost any creative artwork; however, it doesn’t have to be done with just STAEDTLER products alone. We are excited to see your creativity, in any form, so use whatever you like.
Can my entry be created digitally or be digitally enhanced?
No. No digital entries or digitally enhanced entries will be accepted as valid forms of entry for the competition. Your artwork must be created the traditional way using pens, pencils, paint etc.
Can I enter multiple times?
Yes! You may enter as many of your artworks as you like. As long as they are original and not digital or digitally enhanced. You must enter each artwork separately.
What are the sizes/formats for my upload?
The Competition platform accepts images up to 100MB in size, preferably in a JPG format.
Will I be notified when my submission is received?
Once you submit your entry, you will receive a confirmation email that your entry has been received and approved.
Where is the gallery of artwork? How can I view it?
The gallery of submissions will be visible on the STAEDTLER competition page gallery page, once voting opens on the 21st June, 2024.
Can I email my entry direct to Staedtler?
No. Please submit your entry via the Competition page on STAEDTLER’s website.
I am having trouble uploading my artwork, what do I do?
Please ensure that your image is 100MB or under and is in JPG format. If you are still having trouble, please contact the team at Marketing.AU@staedtler.com and a team member will assist you.
Do I need my parent’s permission to enter?
Entrants under 18 years of age must have parental/guardian approval to enter and further, the parent/guardian of the entrant must read and consent to the Term’s & Conditions of Entry. These can be found on the competition website www.staedtler.com/au/artcompetition However no parental permission form Is required.
I am a teacher. Can I upload all submissions for my class in one go?
Yes! All you need to do to upload all of the artwork for the students in your class is choose ‘I am a teacher’ option upon entry and then either drag and drop artwork or drag and drop a zip file comprising all artwork, each individual artwork must be less than 100mb in size. From there, you will need to enter each students details against their corresponding artwork.
When does voting open?
Voting will open on the 21st June and will close on the 28th June, 2024 at 11:59pm AEST.
Who can vote on my creation?
ANYONE who visits the competition website will be able to view your artwork. Just click on the gallery tab from 21st June, 2024. Don’t forget to spread the word once voting opens. Share the competition and your artwork to your online community and encourage your friends and family to vote on your creation. The more votes you receive, the higher your chance of winning!
How do my friends and family vote?
It is easy to vote! They just need to go to the competition page (https://au.competitions.staedtler.com/), click on the gallery tab and then click to vote on your artwork.
Can my artwork be searched within the gallery?
Yes! It’s simple. Type the first name of the artist or name of the artwork into the search bar in the gallery. You can also sort by name and date of entry.
Can my friends and family vote on my artwork more than once?
No. It is a maximum of one vote per person, per artwork.
Can my friends and family vote on multiple artworks?
Yes. They can vote on as many artworks are they like; however, it is restricted to one vote per artwork.
How is the judging conducted?
The STAEDTLER Artist of the Year (Junior & Senior) Awards will be judged by our Panel of Judges. The entries will be split into two categories, Junior (Year 7 – 9) and Senior (Year 10 – 12). The judges will review and judge each entry based on originality and merit.
What are the Student prizes?
There are 8 prizes available,

People’s Choice Award (as voted by the public):

What are the School prizes?
There are 3 x STAEDTLER School Prize Packs up for grabs.
1. The school with the most entries will be awarded a prize pack is filled with $1,000 RRP of STAEDTLER stationery products.
2. The school with the second most entries will be awarded a prize pack is filled with $500 RRP of STAEDTLER stationery products.
3. The school with the third most entries will be awarded a prize pack is filled with $200 RRP of STAEDTLER stationery products.
What is the prize for the weekly draw?
One winner for each of the 4 weekly prize draws will win a STAEDTLER Art Pack worth $200 RRP.
Can I get cash or a different voucher?
The VISA Gift Cards not exchangeable and cannot be taken as cash.
When and how are the winners announced?
Winners will be announced on the 7th July, 2024. Winners will be contacted via phone and/or email and announced on the STAEDTLER Facebook page.
If I win, how will you send out the prizes?
If you are a lucky winner, we will contact you via email and request the best mailing address for us to send your VISA Gift Card to. The prize will be tracked and we will share the tracking number with you so that you can keep an eye on its arrival.
SCHOOL PRIZE PACK*
How is the School Prize Pack judged?
It is based on student entries, the more students you encourage to enter, the higher your chances of winning! Students are asked to enter their School name upon submission of their artwork.
Once the entry period is closed, a member of the STAEDTLER team will tally up all the entries and assigned schools and identify the 3 Schools with the MOST entries. These will be the winning schools.
I am a teacher - how will I be notified if my school wins the student prize pack?
The winning school will be contacted via email or phone.
I am a teacher – how will I receive the Staedtler School Pack?
If your school is the lucky winner, we will contact you via email or phone and request the best mailing address for us to send your prize pack to. The prize will be tracked and we will share the tracking number with you so that you can keep an eye on its arrival.

Is there any benefit to entering my artwork early on in the competition?
Absolutely! The earlier you enter, you will have a chance to win a STAEDTLER Art Pack valued at $200 RRP.
What are the dates I need to submit my artwork to be in the weekly prize draw?
There will be a prize draw the first four weeks of the competition. The deadline for each of these draws is:
Week 1: 19.05.2024
Week 2: 26.05.2024
Week 3: 02.06.2024
Week 4: 9.06.2024
The earlier the enter, the more chance you'll have to win as you'll automatically be entered into each subsequent draw.
